Ensuring NDT Compliance, Every Step of the Way
Precision, Proficiency, Professionalism: Our Level III Promise
Why an Outside Agency Level III?
Our Level III Services offer several advatanges over having a full-time Level III on staff:
Cost-effectiveness: Employing a full-time Level III can be expensive due to salary, benefits, and overhead costs. On the other hand, hiring an outside agency Level III is often more cost-effective as you only pay for the services you need when you need them.
Flexibility: An outside agency Level III can provide flexibility in staffing, allowing you to scale up or down based on project demands. This flexibility is especially beneficial for companies with fluctuating workloads or short-term projects.
Specialized expertise: Outside agency Level IIIs often bring a wealth of diverse experience from working with multiple clients and industries. This breadth of experience can bring fresh perspectives and innovative solutions to your NDT program.
Independent perspective: An outside agency Level III can offer an impartial and objective assessment of your NDT program without being influenced by internal politics or biases. This impartiality can lead to more effective quality assurance and regulatory compliance.
Access to resources: Outside agencies may have access to specialized equipment, training resources, and industry networks that can enhance your NDT program. They can also stay updated on the latest advancements and best practices in the field, ensuring your program remains cutting-edge.
While having a full-time Level III on staff can offer advantages such as dedicated availability and deeper institutional knowledge, the flexibility, cost-effectiveness, and specialized expertise provided by an outside agency Level III often make them a preferred choice for many companies.

Questions About Level III Services
These professionals come with extensive industry expertise, ensuring top-tier performance and industry knowledge.
Yes. Generally, any time an NDT inspection is performed, an NDT program should be established. More specifically, when a contract document calls out an inspection specification, code, or standard you must have an NDT program. An NDT program consists of a documented procedure, aka “written practice,” on how the company will certify their inspectors and NDT procedures that are written to the inspection requirements. Both of these things require Level 3 approval. The Level 3 can be an employee of the company or could be a consultant (Outside Agency Level III)
AWS D1.5 states that if performing inspections on Fracture Critical Members (FCM), a Level III must be on site supervising of the Level II’s performing the work.
Non FCM inspections do not need a Level III on site per AWS D1.5, but it is never a bad idea to have one around.
